2018 was a big year for AUGUSTE. It was Kim and mine’s first full season shooting together, one where I feel our little company made huge steps in figuring out its creative identity and what sets it apart from all of our previous work. We’ve been so privileged to photograph a wide breadth of weddings and events these past twelve months, and it’s been a joy to go back through those images to pick out a handful of our favourites and see how well they stand together. We’ve got a lot more to share over the next few months, but for now here’s a little look back at the last year.
Shooting for Sarah and Patrick was a joy.
It was one of those sticky August Saturdays where you just knew it was going to rain. And boy, did it ever: on my way to the venue in Bolton-Ouest, Quebec, it poured so hard I had to stop driving. The clouds eventually parted, revealing glistening fields and farmsteads. By the time I arrived at the venue, a stunning tree-laden property owned by Sarah’s grandparents, I just knew this was going to be a great day, rain or shine.
Sarah and Patrick are the type of couple you root for. I got a good feeling from them the moment we met back in the winter: friendly, relaxed, and open-minded. After spending a few hours with their families before the ceremony, it was obvious where they got their energy from. Everyone was so accommodating and happy. When I reviewed my footage of the ceremony prep, I had a hard time choosing the best, most touching moments, there were just so many of them.
The ceremony could have been out of a movie. Sarah and Patrick were gorgeous. The altar was picture perfect. Their families and guests were all beaming. The night unfolded under an incredible tent – one of countless amazing touches by the always impressive Elyna Kudish Events – where the dancing, the laughing, the loving didn’t stopped.
Sarah and Patrick and their families deserved this day in spades. It was a picture perfect wedding, and a privilege to cover it.
